Thailand is well known for some great diving sites and the cruising area around Phuket provide access to a number of them. Thailand have also now started with preserving marine resources and it now makes it even better for diving as the coral and reefs are now allowed to regrow and the fish are returning. All divers needs a PADI or equivalent qualification to go out on organized diving trips. Unqualified divers can do courses in Phuket or do some resort dives to get their hair wet as well.
Most of the diving centers are around Phi Phi, Ko Lanta and Ko Racha being some of the most popular sites. If you have some extra time and you come in the North East wind season, you can plan your itinerary to go to a few of the worlds beautiful diving sites at Similan Islands.
